Nikolaj is head of the digital agency Quisma in Denmark. Quisma is a part of the global agency GroupM. At SearchStars Nikolaj will be speaking about how to work data-driven across SEM and SEO to create true synergies.
My first question to you is, could you tell me a bit more about what you do at work? What is the highlight of your working day and what kind of projects excites you the most?
Heading Quisma in Denmark means a lot of working together with our great team of specialist and copywriters on building the right SEO strategies, plans and execution for our clients. But I also get to do a lot of newbizz presentations and screenings of potential new clients when we try to beat show our depth and skill within SEO.
It excites me to see our SEO strategies made several years ago paying off for clients. It give me a great kick to see how we as an agency can provide value for clients. Quisma is made to be partners with our clients by providing clients with specialist competencies and via those competencies creating positive ROI.
When and why did you decide to start working in digital marketing?
In 2007 when I decided to open up an ecommerce store. Back the Facebook CPCs where around 0,015 EUR. However, it was SEO that really interested me and I quickly got extremely passionated about the field.
What do you think is the most important thing for new businesses to start of with when it comes to digital marketing?
Choosing the right strategy from the start. If you go with SEO as an example but there is no searches within the area because you have made an invention, then you are wasting crucial time and money.
How do you keep up to speed on everything that is happening in digital?
I’m trying to stay on top of my Feedly feed of blogposts from some of the inspiring SEO people out there. Otherwise most of my knowledge comes from experience. So having the curiosity to constantly try out new things and investigate and not be scared of trying new ways and strategies is a great way to learn.
At October 9 we will see you speaking at SearchStars, what can the audience expect from your speech?
It’s important for me to achieve two things. First of all I want to inspire you on how you can use data better when working with SEO. Secondly, I want you to be able to do better SEO afterwards – to do something and use the knowledge I share for something.
